Money Decisions
1 — Find the true cost
Start with the cash price, then add interest, fees, insurance or other required costs. Record the total paid over the full commitment—not only the monthly payment.
2 — Test what the payment changes
Subtract the new monthly obligation from the money normally left after essential expenses. Check whether one repair, medical bill or income interruption would force the payment onto credit or another debt.
3 — Price the realistic alternatives
Compare the purchase with waiting, repairing what you have, buying used, paying more up front or shortening the loan when those choices are realistic. Show the dollar difference and what each option leaves available afterward.
