Find work

Turn a job search into a comparison of what the job actually gives you.

1 — Screen the opening

Check usable pay, dependable weekly hours, schedule, commute, benefits and any costs required to take the job.

2 — Verify the fit

Confirm the actual duties, schedule expectations, required experience or credentials, and whether the posted pay applies to your likely starting point.

3 — Compare the real result

Compare two realistic openings by take-home value, stability, travel time and what each could lead to next—not title alone.

If the job changes or ends:
  • Reduced hours, layoffs or schedule changes can lower usable income quickly.
  • Losing a job can also change benefits such as health coverage, paid leave or employer contributions.
  • A delayed first paycheck at a new job can create a gap even when the new pay is higher.
  • Keep recent pay records, benefit information and important employment documents where you can reach them.
Before leaving one job for another, understand the timing between the last dependable paycheck and the first new one.
